INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
Our computer systems have been both stable and reliable, and the club has not experienced any major computer glitches or computer system failures in the last year.
The centralised member database has been successfully implemented and our various departments are enjoying the benefit of this facility when communicating with members.
In an effort to improve communication with members, we completely redeveloped our website and besides its great new look and feel, we have incorporated many new and useful features into the website. The system now allows for on-line account queries, and members are able to view their club account statements and transactions, per location, right down to till slip level. Not only does this feature make our members lives easier, but it also saves our accounting staff many account query calls as members are now able to do these queries via the Internet on our website.
The booking of functions, squash and tennis courts, as well as function rooms has also been made possible via the new website, and we are sure that the members who have made use of this facility have found it to be most convenient.
Our “Point of Sale” systems will soon be due for replacement and this will be the time to look at systems that will give us the option of moving away from a club credit system to a prepaid account system and possibly a cashless system. To this end, our Finance Committee has begun drawing up a list of requirements which we will use as a framework when evaluating our new “Point of Sale” system.
